It’s self-made billionaire Richard Killingworth's daughter’s big day! The last person he wants to see is his estranged wife Mavis—the woman who put the “ex” in “exes.” Celebrating with his best friend Dick, who happens to be Mavis’ first husband, Richard’s life turns upside down when the Queen of Chaos drops in, unannounced, with her new fiancé in tow. Throw in a sharp-tongued butler (um, house manager), a champagne-soaked bridezilla and a snarky stepson, and you have a perfect storm of pandemonium—the fun kind—in this comedy with a heart, reminding us why marriage and divorce make for the strangest of bedfellows.

what the directors are saying
"There were so many real, funny, touching and heartfelt moments that a director can really go as hard or as soft as you would like to. As we rehearsed, I was able to find so many moments to add my own touch to what I found was a very entertaining play. From laughter to scenes where you can hear a pin drop, "The Exes" does not disappoint! I am so pleased that we were able to be one of the first theaters in our area to produce such a wonderful play! As someone who is always looking for something new that works well on our stage, without breaking the bank, THE EXES checks all of the boxes."

"Everyone, here at The Pennsylvania Playhouse in Bethlehem, Pa., could not believe what a truly great show "The Exes" turned out to be. The Lehigh Valley audiences had never seen the comedy before it's community theatre debut in our little space, and they were blown away. We are just starting to get back on our feet and Lenore Skomal delivered a hit show to begin our 2022 season. Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to perform this truly funny play and I hope many more theaters will follow suit."

"I had a great experience with The Exes at the Old Academy Players. As a director, it can be difficult selecting a play that talks to you. After two reads of the play, I knew that your play would be a great fit for our season. I managed to cast seven talented actors to bring your characters to life. They delved into their characters and I had private meetings with each one and asked them questions about their character and backstory, so they could flesh out and "live" the characters on stage. The reviews from our patrons were excellent. I am proud of this play."

"I want to share how much I genuinely admire the script for THE EXES. Each time I revisit it, I find myself appreciating it even more. The characters are so well-drawn, the humor is perfectly timed, and the dialogue is sharp and engaging. You’ve managed to tackle a tough subject with such wit and heart—it’s truly a testament to your talent. Kudos to you, Lenore!"
